Dentures

Dentures are removable dental appliances replacing missing teeth, available as complete or partial options, and customized for a natural look.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are prosthetic devices designed to replace all missing teeth in either the upper or lower jaw. Crafted from durable acrylic materials, these dentures are custom-made to match the unique contours of your jaw and mouth, ensuring a natural appearance that closely mimics your original teeth. The process begins with detailed impressions of your teeth, bite, and jaw shape, which are used to create dentures tailored to fit comfortably and function effectively. Typically, conventional complete dentures are fitted after a healing period of one to two months following the extraction of your remaining teeth. This wait allows your gums to heal fully and ensures a more precise fit for the dentures. However, for those who cannot afford to be without teeth during this period, immediate dentures can be placed right after extractions. These temporary solutions allow you to maintain oral function and aesthetics until your mouth has healed sufficiently for permanent dentures. It is important to note that as your mouth changes over time—due to jawbone and gum tissue shrinkage—your dentures may need adjustments or replacement to maintain a proper fit and functionality. Regular check-ups with your dentist will help ensure that any necessary modifications are made promptly.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are removable appliances designed to replace a few missing teeth rather than a full arch. They are particularly useful for patients who still have some of their natural teeth remaining. These dentures are held in place by either metal clasps or precision attachments. Metal clasps hook onto the remaining natural teeth, providing a secure fit. Precision attachments, on the other hand, involve placing crowns on the remaining abutment teeth, which serve as anchors for the partial denture. For partial dentures with precision attachments, the process is more complex as it requires crowns to be fitted on the abutment teeth to provide a stable connection. Regardless of the type, the supporting natural teeth must be in good health to ensure that the partial dentures function effectively and comfortably. Routine dental check-ups are essential to monitor the health of the supporting teeth and the fit of the partial dentures. Proper maintenance and care of both the partial dentures and natural teeth will contribute to the longevity and effectiveness of the dental appliance.
